FOR the second year running a Birmingham restaurant has waked away with the established British Curry Award at a glittering London ceremony. Lasan restaurant in St Paul's Square ensured the award remained in the city, following up last year’s award success with a host of accolades.
The British Curry Awards is the biggest event in the curry calender. Last night's ceremony was hosted by impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw and was attended by more than 1,100 restaurateurs, MPs, diplomats and celebrity guests such as Heston Blumenthal. The glittering black-tie occasion marked the fourth consecutive year of the awards.
Lasan's proud owner Jabbar Khan said: "We are delighted to receive this award amongst so many established restaurants. The trophy further cements out reputation as one of the best restaurants in the UK." In addition, the judges awarded Lasan a special commendation of a five star premium rating.
Chef Director, Aktar Islam, is a rising star in the food industry and had been recognised at this year's Taste Awards. He said: "The team are ecstatic to win. What we share is passion for the food, the cooking and the industry, which I feel is a winning combination. And this has been reflected by the huge support we have from our customers."
